LAST YEAR IN TCS

Today I completed three years in TCS and ironically this is my last week in here. The Best thing about TCS was that I got a chance to work in a good project though most of my friends got bench. But for the work I did what is required is continual learning, that was the best turning point that TCS helped me. It made me self sufficient as I understood that I can not expect much help from their side. In the beginning of this year I moved to onsite and I was assigned a Lead role where I worked  in a multi vendor environment leading a team of 6 associates ( All non TCSers). They do not see how they can put an employee in a better place if possible. The assignment is absolutely on the basis of luck, some people who were better got bad projects and some who were worse than me got better projects. Luck factors matter a lot. You cannot change it. It's all billing algorithms for them. They hired me to make money. They hardly spend a penny on training and for the whole yea...

Two years in TCS

Experience UNcertainity... 'Should I leave or should I not' , this was the question of the year 2013. I am sure this question would have surfaced in the minds of many of you at some point in time during your stay in TCS. The reason that I am writing this and you are reading this means that there were reasons strong enough for me not to leave TCS.  As I look back in time, the reasons that worked for me to stay back were the continuous challenges and some wonderful morons in the middle level management. Couple of times the thought crossed my mind when I had not so good manager . Persons who were unfair, very derogatory, disrespectful, demeaning and de-motivating.  Bosses can be demanding, tough, and maybe harsh as well... and by doing so they are helping you to focus & deliver... but unless they demonstrate their softer side sometimes or logically explain why they are so, then dealing with such people many times, makes you lose your appetite to work harder or cre...

A Year in TCS

13  October  2011, the day I started as an IT professional. The day is still fresh in my mind. First the Initial Learning Phase , then the project life. Its true that learning is a  continuous  process but ILP was surely the honey moon period for a fresher in TCS. Once you are in a project growth and learning depends on your will and the project  off course . I am in a project from  January  2012 . Some friends  are still on bench , It’s a long wait for them and in frustration some  already  left the TCS. Some of my friends shared their Experiences: Siddharth Jain, Tata Consultancy Services : Sahyadri Park - Pune, Maharashtra We have completed a year long journey whose best part was those three months of our ILP.  We are not fresher, we now know , what we have missed. Still because of TCS , we don't get much pressure of work so still not workaholic .... :P  .  But only thing I miss now is FRIE...

IT VS ITIS

IT and ITIS.  The twins of the outsourcing world. One refers to Information Technology, the other IT Infrastructure Services. Most of us often get confused as to which is exactly what, which will propel our career to the highway of success faster. Coming to the basic facts, both have their very core base as information technology. That means the underlying technologies and skill-sets that are required for the functioning of both the systems are the very same. The only thing that will vary is the job role and the activities related to the particular role. The organization TCS has recently stepped into this ITIS territory and so TCS ITIS is a clear top notch player in this field now.  Basic Difference The core difference stems from the fact that ITIS is a service type job role, the other is a not so well-defined job role, i.e. IT will include virtually from anything starting from development to testing and might even have some of the related tasks in ITIS. Tasks in ...

ILP DIARY : H68 TRIP

SPEEDY KINGS  WITH NON-STOP QUEENS :p   H68- This is my batch in ILP (Learning Phase in TCS ) , I used to call it a group of GREENTALKERS. Group is just like a mini India : Associates from every corner of India . Initially H68 is divided into groups  according to their colleges but the scene changes after our first official trip to RUNWAY9 , LUMBINI PARK and HUSSAIN SAGAR LAKE.  The batch strength is 56 but only 40 agreed to give their services on Saturday (12/11/2011). This was our first get together, mainly just to say hello and get a feel for what we'd like to do in next months.    Eventually, this will be a good mix of social networking among IT professionals in the Runway 9 and Hussain Sagar lake (Hyderabad). SET IN MOTION : THE BUS RIDE I joined the group from Q-City : TCS ILP CENTRE  The best part of the whole trip was in the Bus , Here I got a taste of variety of songs.       ...
