THE WILD JOURNEY

What do you need on a perfect road trip? This is surely a relevant question , one should know what can result in the best tour of life, which can be remembered and one wants to relive those moments again. I had a wild safari last year with friends, as a matter of fact all 4 of us are together from college but now in the professional pool we are colleagues. The successful elements that made that trip historic were the destination , our group , the music , our guide and last but not the least our safari jeep. Lets discuss there importance - First comes the destination, we should know where we are going. In simpler terms one should know what to expect from that place. If your home work is not good then either you might end up in expecting too much or in the worst scenario you didn't expect anything a...

OLD FORT - THE ABODE OF TIGER

If a race has no history, if it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated. The old Fort (in Hindi called PURANA QILA) was built in1533 by emperor Humayun. Some modification were done by Sher Shah in the year 1544. It is also called SHERGARH ( the abode of Tiger). It is located near Pragati Maidan and about a km from famous India Gate, just adjsent to Zoological Park. It is spread over 2 km area. It is not a very beautiful fort but historically it is important. It has a museum and there are monuments of Mahabharat age. The Babri ( Place for women bath) is interesting to see how about 80-10 ft down staircases are built and how the natural water used to flow. The LIGHT AND SOUND program organised every day after the sun set is worth experiencing. It reveals the ancient history of India and depicts the facts how the city 'INDRAPRASTHA' has turned to recent ' NEW DE...

PACHMARHI : A PARADISE IN SATPURA

A saucer shaped hill resort, Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh is often called as the queen of Satpura Ranges. Situated at an altitude of 1,067 feet, Pachmarhi offers a variety of attractions ranging from ancient caves to beautiful monuments. A famous hill station in the Satpura Range, Pachmarhi is greatly indebted to the highly innovative officer of the British reign, Captain Forsyth for it’s all round development. It was on the recommendation of this great officer Pachmarhi has been converted to a famous Sanatorium and later to a hill station. The single hill station in Madhya Pradesh, Pachmarhi is a large flat terrain, circled by the snooty knolls of the Satpura range. Its countryside is characterized by rocky hills, woody forests and deep canyons. The lustrous greenery combined with the majestic hills and the cascading waterfalls presents eye-catching scenery to the observer. One among the main attractions of this hilly resort is the specta...

UKHIMATH : UTTRAKHAND ...simply heaven.....

Tungnath, at 12,073 above mean sea level, is the highest Shiva temple in the world, discounting perhaps the Amarnath Cave shrine near Srinagar, Kashmir, which is situated at an altitude of 12,756 feet. Tungnath is second in importance among the five mountain shrines collectively known as the Panch Kedar. The temple opens for worship after winter snows melt in June and remains open until late October when snowfall cuts off access to the temple. At this time the deity is moved ceremoniously to the Ukhimath, thousands of feet below. Besides its majestic location against a backdrop of cliffs, peaks and snow-clad mountains, Tungnath is also popular with trekkers, who make it a point to witness the sunrise from Chandrashila, a nearby peak at 13,123 feet. To reach Tungnath from Delhi, drive or take an overnight train/ bus to Rishikesh (236 km) and drive/ take a bus to Ukhimath (170 km/ 6 hours). Halt overnight and catch the morning bus for Chopta (17 km/ 1 hour), a roadhead at 9,500 feet. Tun...
