Time is a circle, just like Matthew McConaughey said in True Detective. But it isn't flat. It's spherical. McConaughey’s renaissance continues: He’s required to play practically every emotional note imaginable, and he hits them all. Hathaway isn’t quite as convincing as a scientist, and she also gets the movie’s worst speech, but she’s passable and doesn’t ruin the movie. For all its flaws, Interstellar is required viewing for anyone who appreciates the majesty movies are capable of, the way they can fool us into thinking we’ve been transported into another galaxy, and for anyone who wants to see things they’ve never seen before. Interstellar is the most mercilessly awe-inducing. Even if you gag on its payload of sentiment, as many have and shall, it is the film of 2014 that demands to be experienced on the biggest screen available. Nolan would prefer that you see it in 70mm IMAX if you can; Paramount is making a well-publicized exception to its recent switch to ...

Today I completed three years in TCS and ironically this is my last week in here. The Best thing about TCS was that I got a chance to work in a good project though most of my friends got bench. But for the work I did what is required is continual learning, that was the best turning point that TCS helped me. It made me self sufficient as I understood that I can not expect much help from their side. In the beginning of this year I moved to onsite and I was assigned a Lead role where I worked  in a multi vendor environment leading a team of 6 associates ( All non TCSers). They do not see how they can put an employee in a better place if possible. The assignment is absolutely on the basis of luck, some people who were better got bad projects and some who were worse than me got better projects. Luck factors matter a lot. You cannot change it. It's all billing algorithms for them. They hired me to make money. They hardly spend a penny on training and for the whole yea...

Indiblogger recently organized an event with the aid of Nokia. Your wish is my App II, a Nokia IndiBlogger meet Well It was really good to see such an event for such a technical brainstorming. This blog post is all about my idea about an app which can really help us out in many areas. I am referring from taking surveys ,polls to collecting funds and really large chunk of raw data. I want an app on Master Data Managemnt MDM may be many different things. For me it’s about Master Data Management and for others it’s about Mobile Device Management. A recent twitter chat session organized by Gartner (the analyst firm) had the tag #GartnerMDM. It was about Master Data Management but of course there also were questions about Mobile Device Management. And sure. One of the foremost technology trends being mobile doesn’t have the same attention as other hyped trends like big, social and cloudy within this MDM, but mobile may actually also play a role within master data ma...

Here are some of the health benefits of coffee. Health Benefit #1: Coffee Drinkers May Live Longer Last year, researchers primarily at the National Cancer Institute studied health information from more than 400,000 volunteers, ages 50-71, who were free of major diseases when the study began in 1995. By 2008, more than 50,000 of the participants had died. But here’s the crazy part: Men who reported drinking two or three cups of coffee a day were a full 10 percent less likely to have died than those who didn’t drink coffee, while women drinking the same amount were 13 percent less likely to have died during the study. Health Benefit #2: Coffee Drinkers Are Less Likely to Develop Diabetes More than 15 published studies have linked coffee drinking to the prevention of type 2 diabetes, and in the scientific world, that makes the data pretty solid. In 2005, Frank Hu, MD, MPH, PhD, a nutrition and epidemiology professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, and his te...

Experience UNcertainity... 'Should I leave or should I not' , this was the question of the year 2013. I am sure this question would have surfaced in the minds of many of you at some point in time during your stay in TCS. The reason that I am writing this and you are reading this means that there were reasons strong enough for me not to leave TCS.  As I look back in time, the reasons that worked for me to stay back were the continuous challenges and some wonderful morons in the middle level management. Couple of times the thought crossed my mind when I had not so good manager . Persons who were unfair, very derogatory, disrespectful, demeaning and de-motivating.  Bosses can be demanding, tough, and maybe harsh as well... and by doing so they are helping you to focus & deliver... but unless they demonstrate their softer side sometimes or logically explain why they are so, then dealing with such people many times, makes you lose your appetite to work harder or cre...

The Lenovo Yoga was the first device to make Windows 8 interesting. It had a hinge that could convert the laptop into a tablet or fold into a tent. Lenovo has since refined that design into an even better laptop, and it has also taken the time to convert some of that design philosophy to the Android-powered Lenovo Yoga Tablet. When it comes to Android tablets, they are all rather ho-hum; big rectangular slabs. In an effort to use them comfortably as a display or for watching a movie, clunky cases and folios must be purchased in order to prop them up. Sure, you can lean it against something and hope it doesn't fall over, but that is risky business. Lenovo feels the pain of Android users and has created a new solution -- a  better way , if you will. The company explains that the tablet, "features three unique modes, giving consumers a better way to use a tablet. With hold, tilt and stand modes, the tablet adapts to the way people use it instead of forcing people to ada...
